Designers Jamie Drake and Caleb Anderson of Drake/Anderson reflect on location, luxury, and a paint color palette they curated inspired by one of their Manhattan-based design projects. Drake/Anderson’s Designer Color Palette is as simple as it is sumptuous.

Inspired by the lofty views from this Manhattan apartment the duo designed, Jamie Drake and Caleb Anderson say the palette echoes the need for equilibrium in design. “Vibrant sky blue, urban grays, and black punctuations imply bold luxury, while a mostly white base creates the backdrop for modern living.”

Taking Color Cues from Surroundings

“It’s important to create a space that reflects its geography, whether it’s a city pied à terre, or a country getaway,” says Caleb Anderson. “Weaving exterior surroundings into your interior is integral to any design project.”

In the contemporary living room, interior color choices synch with those reflected in the view beyond.

Rich blues on chairs and pillows nod to the distant reservoir, while flora and fauna conjure a breezy Central Park stroll. Muted greige couches and off-white walls in Chantilly Lace OC-65 reflect the city buildings, with a touch of Jet Black 2120-10 trim adding detail and depth. Gold accessories, sleek, glossy tables, and rich textiles breathe dimension throughout the space.
